This Town Is Awfully Square For A Cat Like Me

On my last day in Indiana we walked around downtown Indianapolis. It was sweltering and I definitely questioned my penchant for black dresses and scarves as a summer accessory. These pictures were snapped the White River Gardens, which was a pleasant patch of green and shade in the overly bright day. The butterfly room was also, obviously worth the visit.
Oh, and it is funny to me how many people commented that my sister looks like me...because frankly, I don't see it! Our hair color (and texture) is the most obvious difference, but many of our features also differ: my face is heart-shaped/round and hers is oval, she has dimples and I don't (wish I did!), our noses are distinctly different, and other various details separate us as well. In high school, many of our friends didn't know we were related...although my sister pointed out when they "discovered" we were siblings that she wouldn't hang-out with a freshman when she was a junior unless there was a familial tie! I do take people thinking we look similar as a compliment and we share the same facial expressions.

I love scarves draped over a summer dress. I've found myself wearing them almost even more now that the temperature is rising! Your nails always look so well manicured. Do you do them yourself? I can never do my own without making a total mess. For me, it's better left to a professional!

I love the butterfly pictures! And the Bye Bye Birdie reference in the title.

Ah yes the midwest heat can be quite aggravating!

People say I look like one of my sisters and I really don't see it, I think the only reason they say that with us is that we both are blond.

Anyway, the scarf is beautiful and I love how your shoes pop! And you totally match that butterfly! So great!

Stay cool.

You look so lovely, as always. And I love the pop of colors in your outfit!

Butterflys are fantastic :)

stupidly enough, butterfly gardens kind of scare me because I am terrified of them landing on me haha. Nevertheless they make a perfect outfit setting!

I can definitely sympathize with your plight of heat! It's a very sad thing that I haven't been able to really wear my scarves ever since the summer heat cranked up! And where are the White River Gardens in Indy, I've never heard/been there before?

White River Gardens is probably the most photographic spot in Downtown, Indy other than the canal.

You did end up being me on some of the hottest days of the season.

Amazing butterflies.

I have only driven through Indianapolis, but am always entertained by the notion that there is a Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds Parkway there. In Nashville, we only have roads named after historical figures, not 90s pop stars!

ick now you know what we have been through the last few days, and yet you still look awesome. I love the purple nail polish, hey, do you think you could do a video on painting nails? I know it sounds strange, but I have never been able to master it and your videos are easy to follow. :)

Methinks the resemblance is in the eyes; "the eyes have it," after all. :)

Fun purple nails! You have a penchant for dressing so bright and cheery (even in mostly black). Turquoise and purple make such a crisp combo here...

people always say that me and my sis look alike too, but i don't see it either! wierd how that works. you always have the best structured dresses with the perfect shapes to them. i love it!

I wear a lot of black {it's my staple color, style ~ well, everything!} so I defiantely sympathise on the heat issue.

I love wearing my scarfs in winter thoough, because it allows me to ditch the coat more often. {in the middle of an Australian winter here. :D }

Your shoes are totally making me want to go out and buy a bunch of colorful flats/pumps for my black summer wear! They are really cute.

I agree, you are not identical to your sister, but there are definitely some similarities.

The butterflies are so pretty here and I love your scarf.

Oh, and here I am off for Tunisia where I intend to sweat and be scorched by the sun and guess what - my luggage consists of a majority of black stuff. I feel stupid already but can't think of wearing anything else...

@Anonymous, thank you for your sweet comment! I did go to the salon before my sister's wedding and have a dye. I don't do permanents, but rather a deep conditioning treatment with a demi-permanent. It doesn't drastically change the color of your hair, only brightens it and then it fades out naturally in about 2 weeks. :)
